My mother gave me $200 to get new bras because, uh, most of mine were disintegrating. (Sadly that is not an exaggeration.)

So my order from bravissimo came today. One of my bras is back-ordered, they'll send it when more stock comes in, okay. The other two fit me! My new sports bra is cute and colourful and maybe not quite as immobilising as my old Goddess bras when they were new, but much, much more so than the beat-to-hell two-years-plus Goddess bras. It fits properly, and all. And the lace black underwire fits very nicely, too.

The strappy top that I ordered in the same size (34H, for those who are curious, and no I'm not actually quite that large as yet, apparently UK sizing is just that bizarre) as the two bras that fit me perfectly? It is at least two cup-sizes two large. I am not even exaggerating when I say that there was an inch of cup flattening down against my chest.

Seriously, just, what. Is it really so much to ask for some faint attempts at consistency? I'm not asking for everything to fit exactly the same. I'd just like not to have TWO CUP-SIZES worth of variation in the same size. This isn't a wacky UK sizing vs. US sizing thing, either, because these are all sized a 34H in UK sizing.

The truly depressing thing is, I'm counting 2 for 3 out of this order fitting to be a total success in ordering mail-order. Something fit, at all! Yaaaay!

Auuugh, can I have a clothing industry that isn't stacked against me at all turns, please.

(So unsurprisingly, yeah, I'm really terrified of having to shop for nursing bras when the time comes. Thank god that's not for at least another year or so.)

Fear not! This journal will not just be clothes and what have you. At some point I will actually talk about my Women and Film class. (Short story: I LOVE MY TEACHER. Shelley Rodrigo, you guys, and she teaches ENG102, too. I AM SO THERE, COME SPRING. Considering how hard I have failed, to date, to get through that class? And considering how awesome she is? YOU GUYS, SHE HAS A TWITTER. And apparently her office is a paean to the WOMEN OF SCIENCE FICTION. MY CAPSLOCK, LET ME SHOW YOU IT.)

Hm. Clearly I should upload an icon for clothes/fashion, though. Since while I love my dear, deceased Tiggy, he is not very fashiony and it would be good to have the visual marker. Will have to figure out to use for that, though. Maybe some high heels. *digs around the icon communities!*

While I'm not in a position to make any major expenditures at this point in time, I am currently looking at what it would take to overhaul my wardrobe to a pantsless state. This post is totally inspirational and, well. Pants and my figure really don't get along. I have wide hips, a high and very short waist, and no ass. Nobody cuts pants to fit me properly.

Plus, I really like wearing skirts. Part of this is that most of my pants have died terrible deaths and haven't been arsed to go replace them, but I find myself drawn to skirts by preference. I do plan to buy a pair or two of comfy jeans to have around; I'm sure there will be days I just want to slouch around in jeans. But I think explicitly going pantsless on the whole would make me like my wardrobe a lot better.

So, I am looking at skirts and leggings and dresses! Got any suggestions for your favourite places to find those? Online and off! Admittedly, phoenix metro would be good to stick to for offline suggestions. *g*

The looks I am kind of going for are going to be punk professional on the dressy end and geeky business casual with a punk edge for the casual end. Definitely planning to layer a lot, using tissue tees under fitted tees, so I can be warm in the winter. (Shut up, non-locals! Seriously. I do not want to hear it; I get cold during the winter here, and you can just shut up. )

I'm planning to hit up My Sister's Closet/Attic and other thrift stores, as well as shopping online for things. I really, really hate full-length tights, so I'm interested in thigh-high tights and knee-high socks both. Thicker leggings, too, definitely. And *dresses*.

Anyway! We'll see how this goes. I'm going to have to dig through my closet and weed things out; stuff I'm not wearing anyway needs to go. And it's something I can work on right now.
